book

Can something be illusive and fleeting, yet immediate?

The book, unlike any other medium, demands the hand. Touch is not peripheral but essential, binding us into the body of the work and inviting presence as an act of participation.

‘a sentence is a painting’

The desire to connect is seductive – trying to get into the mind of the artist by entering the fabric of the work. We carefully inspect each page one by one.

What do we seek in the mind of another?

The interest sparks from a gesture, from a letter that refuses to dissolve into silence. Form becomes connection, attention shifts into relation: the act of one mind brushing against another. This exchange is not neutral. It carries weight, sometimes teetering on the edge of violence, where the intimacy of encounter threatens the self. Presence is never passive. It asks us to remain with it, allowing the space between self and other to become the very space of meaning.

Does the length of our time together matter?

The response does not materialise as illustration, but as impression, reflection –
the shadow of the memory that assembles into a form. The response reshapes the original, making visible the movement of thought across media. A representation of movement itself – a line, a string – captures this passage. It holds the unfolding of a relation within – the moment when one form begins to echo another, creating something greater than both.
